After our morning walk, the dog and I settled on the front steps to enjoy the crepe myrtle in full bloom. The colors could do with another layer to deepen the shadows, but I have to go to work, so this is as far as it goes today. Parts of the painting came out great, so I am including a few cropped views.

I included a few starting layers, but then I got busy painting and forgot until 1 1/2 hours later. To make up for that I’ve included a snapshot of the view, which looked brighter to my eyes, and a shot showing the fallen blossoms on the grass.

Watercolor painting on 11″x 15″ 140 lb paper, Crepe Myrtle Morning, 7 to 9 a.m. July 3, 2014.
