People from around here call this a Horse-apple, Hedge-apple, Osage-orange, Bois-d’Arc, or Bodock tree. The sticky sap in the fruit is said to be a natural insect repellent. The wood was used for bows for arrows, fence posts and wagon wheels and is resistant to rot.

I have been calling this a Tennis-ball Tree.
