My father just sent me an inspiring book by mail – Two Worlds of Andrew Wyeth: A Conversation with Andrew Wyeth by Thomas Hoving.

Which is a nice companion to another book I have borrowed from the online free library at Archive.org called Andrew Wyeth Dry Brush and Pencil Drawings.  Locate this book in the online library here: http://archive.org/details/andrew00fogg.

One thing I admire about both of these books is the insight to Andrew Wyeth’s painting process which includes many detailed pencil or ink sketches, sketches in watercolor, preliminary paintings, then final paintings. Andrew Wyeth’s masterful results are the result of much study and practice.

Following the death of Andrew Wyeth at 91 (2006) an informative article by Smithsonian Magazine was also published. Read ‘Wyeth’s World’ online at http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/wyeth.html.

I hope you are also inspired by this glimpse into Andrew Wyeth’s artistic process.
