Lucy J. LowryLucy Lowry loves to transfer the beautiful things she sees in everyday life to paper with watercolors. She grew up in Maine, travelled in the Marine Corps, and relocated following her husbands’ work to Atlanta, GA, and Waxahachie, TX. In Texas she studied at Navarro College. She graduated with an AA in Art and also has an AAS in Multimedia. Lucy now attends the University of Texas at Tyler and works as a digital editor at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana. Painting and drawing after (or during) her morning walk, Lucy starts each day appreciating life and beauty.

While at Navarro College, Lucy participated in the WAA Quickdraw through the Pearce Museum with mentoring from Don Dernovich and Don Weller. She continues to be influenced by their counterpoints of remarkable realism and observant minimalism. Prior to attending college Lucy raised two children, both have taken classes with her at Navarro. In 2013 she entered the Ellis County Art Association’s “Paint Historic Waxahachie” plein air week. While attending the University of Texas at Tyler her three-piece ceramic work “Northeastern Turbulance” was selected for the juried Summer 2014 Student Art Exhibition. “Life in a Reef”, 30″x30″ mixed media with uv effect, was chosen for the Epiphany Spring Show – curated art exhibit – April 2015. She is now an active member of the Corsicana Art League, UT Tyler Art Club, and Southwestern


Lucy grew up in Maine. She served active duty in both the USMC and the Army, beginning travel throughout the world and the United States. Travel has impressed upon her that there is beauty everywhere and in almost everyone.

Lucy is actively involved in her community and has painted murals, posters, landscapes, pets and portraits for church donation, community fundraisers, custom individual requests and campus events. Lucy's dog is a "morning person"Recently, Lucy has begun painting larger 20 x 30″ watercolors along with smaller paintings and studies. Lucy enjoys working with watercolors and often gets up before her husband’s day starts to paint in the morning light with her dog for company.
